Cinderella (2015)

It is quiet obvious that the film makers had confident in 3 things related to the success of the film.

Firstly I think they trusted in their cast and especially in the actors for the two main roles. But I have to admit that the main actors performance which often makes the difference between a good film and a bad film, is only mediocre which is an achievement considering the awful scripted scenes and de badly written dialogues.
The only good acting performances comes from the two sisters and partly the step mother. Who take the given dialogues and frame them with comical and over the top physical acting.

Secondly the film makers were clearly confident in the setting and CGI effects of the film (especially with the magic in the scene with the fairy godmother). A part of the film it is only just to be confident in as especially some settings were phenomenal. Like the setting of the palace near to the sea, the setting of the interior of the house and also the scene where the dress is created with the help of magic. But I am not sure if the CGI mouses were really needed as they do not hold a important part in the general story and the kindness off Cinderella to all beings could have been expressed in another way.

Finally huge amount of trust was put into the influence of the old Cinderella film and in general in the good reputation of Disney films. And again it is only just too put your hopes on things like that if you have the chance to create a movie with Disney. If you can not trust in a positive influence of Disney than you could trust in no once influence.

At first I was about to give the film a bad review but by looking at the matters like explained above I can understand the reasoning behind the development of the film. And it works. But if a concept only works it will not generate great movies and that's also the situation with this one. It is a pretty straight forward produced, no surprise giving, no new ideas including successor of the 1950 cartoon.
